One Voice, One Demand: Chandigarh Manthan Seeks Five-Year Mayoral Term

 

Chandigarh Manthan Seeks Five-Year Mayoral Term Today, at Metro Hotel Sector 35, various residents’ welfare, market welfare, industrial bodies and other employees and self-help groups of the Chandigarh converged together to discuss what type of Councillors and Mayor, the City Beautiful should have in the 2026 Municipal Corporation elections.

 

 

The meeting was also attended by Presidents of the two mainstream pollical parties, HS Lucky from Congress and JP Malhotra from BJP.

The key speakers of the day included Sanjeev Chadha President Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, Vikram Chopra Vice Chairman Chandigarh Property Consultants Association, Baljinder Singh Bittoo Chairman FOSWAC, RS Thapar Co-Convener, Voice of Group Housing Societies, AC Dawan Key Representative, CHB Houses RWAs, Avi Bhasin President Chandigarh Laghu Udyog Bharati, Ranjit Mishra President UT Chandigarh Subordinates Services Federation, Pankaj Gupta President Sector 38W RWA, Rajesh Rai President Sector 43 RWA, Charanjit Singh Chairman Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, Krishan Sachdev, Senior Executive Member, CRAWFED and Neeraj Bajaj Chairman Chandigarh Business Council.

 

HS Lucky President, Chandigarh Congress and JP Malhotra President Chandigarh BJP also spoke on the need of reforms in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections process. More than 80 city stake holders were present. Vinod Vashisht Convener, City Forum of Residents Welfare Organisations (CFORWO) proposed vote of thanks.

 

The key takeaway of the Manthan-2026 is that City unanimously wants 5 years for Mayoral term like adjoining towns of the TriCity, Mohali & Panchkula and preferably by direct mayoral elections.

The detailed proceedings of the deliberations will also be shared with National Heads of Congress, AAP and BJP.
